I like the emphasis on private spacecraft for low Earth orbit, but unless there is an international treaty to privatize the Moon (which would be a good idea), then we aren't going back any time soon.

We have wasted billions on a "stimulus" program that mostly employs government workers at the state level. If had taken those same billions, NASA could have had a robust manned and robotic space program that would have employed lots of high tech workers in the private sector.

I doubt Congress can turn this around since the deficit is so huge.

The only hope at this point is a new President (2012 here we come) and/or China steams ahead to land on the Moon and people start blaming Obama for "losing the Moon" to the Chinese.
